When we made to Brooklyn’s mothers house, everyone was there. Torren, Ayah and Aden, Reason, Bronx, BJ and Kale, Edge and Reese, and even Harris, Tia, and Kin. That was to be expected though because regardless of how things played out, their mom believed in family, so they were always welcome. Kin was her sons’ sister, and she always wanted her to feel like a part of the family.

“Damn, Teagan, why are you dressed like you’re about to hit the runway? It’s just family dinner, not fashion week.” Reason smirked at me right before she and Ayah both rolled their eyes.

“You look good, Teagan. I mean, you make the rest of us look like we’re slumming it, but you still look flawless,” Tia added after I did a full blown turn and then posed a few times.

I was in my red velour skinny jeans with a sheer silver sweater that exposed my silver bralette. My hair was bone straight and I was rocking a full covergirl look for my makeup.

Everyone else was in jeans and sneakers, hoodies and sweats. Typical causal wear, and even though they all looked cute and their clothes were likely very expensive because that’s just how we rolled, I was photo shoot ready.

“I tried to tell her ass that she was doing too much but you know you can’t tell her shit.” Brooklyn said after he lowered Brookie to the floor. She ran right to Bronx and jumped in his arms.

“Shut up. I had to match my car’s fly. Don’t hate.”

“Oh, so that’s what this shit is about.” Bronx chuckled and kissed Brookie while she hugged his neck and then wiggled to get out of his arms to go play with her cousins. “I told you not to buy her that shit. I knew she was gonna be doing too much.”

Brooklyn laughed at his brother and then shook his head. He knew the deal, so he wasn’t about to ruin his evening by siding with them.

“Well, you look good, baby. Don’t let them kill your shine.” Brooklyn’s mother walked up and hugged me first and then her son.

“I’m not. They already know what it is.”

“Good, now come on and help me fix these babies plates so that we can eat.”

An hour later, the kids were at their table finishing up their dinner while we were a few feet away enjoying ours. Well, everyone except Reason, who had a hyper BJ in her lap grabbing at anything that he could get his little hands on.

Bronx finally noticed how frustrated she was and tried to save her, by taking him from her, but BJ wasn’t trying to have it. He was all about his mother today.

“See, this right here is why I wanted to wait. You are no help.” Reason pouted, and Bronx laughed and kissed her cheek.

“I can’t do shit with him if he wants you. I tried to get him, but he wants to be up your ass right now which is your family because you got him spoiled like that.
